Complex Trauma

If you are struggling with chronic symptoms of anxiety or depression, you may suffering from Complex Post Traumatic Stress. C-PTSD occurs when someone has experienced repeated or prolonged traumatic events over an extended period. Unlike regular PTSD, which is often caused by a single, discrete traumatic event, C-PTSD results from ongoing exposure to trauma, such as bullying, physical or sexual abuse, emotional neglect, and/or growing up in dysfunctional family.

C-PTSD can cause a range of symptoms such as:

  • difficulty regulating emotions

  • a sense of being broken

  • difficulty with trust or intimacy

  • feelings of worthlessness, shame, and guilt

  • chronic anxiety

  • depression

  • feeling “stuck” in the trauma

ANxiety

Anxiety is a natural response to stress, and it is something that everyone experiences from time to time. However, for people with C-PTSD, social anxiety can become overwhelming and interfere with daily life.

Anxiety can manifest in the following ways:

  • physical symptoms like sweating, shaking, and rapid heartbeat that are difficult to control

  • emotional symptoms like worry, fear, and panic

  • freezing in social situations and/or avoiding them
